Washington Road Neighborhood Church
Washington Road Neighborhood Church is a church with a heart for reaching the destitute people in their community. In an area plagued by crime and drugs, Washington Road Neighborhood Church seeks to be a light, pointing the hurting to Jesus Christ. We meet in a house on Washington Road for Sunday services and for Bible study on Monday and Wednesday evenings.
Our Bible study is called the “hour of reason” and is designed so that nonbelievers can come to a place where they can ask questions and hear the Word of God.
Washington Road Church would like to one day be able to minister to all of the needs of the community, helping to provide food, clothing, and education for those in need. Pastor Jimmie Jordan has a passion to reach the young men of the community, and to show them that they can change their lives through the power of Christ. His wife, Amelia, has a heart for young girls and women, and her ministry is focused on teaching these young ladies life skills, such as cooking.
The Washington Road community is comprised of approximately 50 percent African Americans and 50 percent Hispanics and the majority of people are between the ages of 25 and 35. It is estimated that 60 percent of the population in this community are unchurched and 80 percent are not attending worship. We are praying that God will raise up some younger core group members to help reach the young people in this community. We would also like a larger facility so that we could host a Vacation Bible School and other ministries for the community. Being in the early stages of a church plant, we still have a lot of basic needs, including office supplies and finances.
Canvassing the neighborhood has been a productive outreach of Washington Road Church, raising awareness of our ministry and drawing people to our Bible study. We hope to do more canvassing of the neighborhood this year. We are also asking that God would raise up 100 prayer warriors to intercede for our ministry.

Jimmie Jordan
In 1993, Jimmie Jordan planted his first church in the Greenbriar area of Atlanta. After about five years, Jimmie met the pastor of First Baptist Chattahoochee, a church that was struggling, and the two decided to join their congregations. It was during that time that God led Jimmie and his wife, Amelia, to start an evangelism ministry in the East Point area. The Jordans were so burdened by the destitute East Point community that they felt God leading them to start a church there.
Jimmie attended Morehouse College and Carver Bible College and received a bachelor of theology degree from Harris Logos Bible College in 1995.
Jimmie and Amelia have three children and four grandchildren.
