Upper Westside Mission

As a church plant of First Baptist Church of Chattahoochee, Upper Westside Mission seeks to reach the three neighborhoods in our community—Riverside, Vinings on Chattahoochee, and Whittier Mill Village—with the gospel of Jesus Christ through the formation of small groups meeting in homes. Our vision is to have two to three healthy, growing groups meeting weekly in each neighborhood, and then to have the groups come together monthly or quarterly for a worship celebration service.

Upper Westside Mission is in the very early, core building phase, so there is much work to do. We are praying that God would give us wisdom and vision for engaging these neighborhoods in an effective way. The neighborhoods we are seeking to reach are primarily made up of Caucasian professionals and young families.

We are partnering with the neighborhood associations to determine some ways we can serve them and projects that can be completed during an upcoming Volunteer Day. We would love to have people come alongside us for this project. There will be opportunities in the areas of construction and working with children. We are also praying for young couples to come and partner with us, participating in our small groups as we gain momentum.

We are praying that God will stir hearts in these neighborhoods, drawing people in ways that only He can.

Cameron Ford and family

Cameron Ford was born in Atlanta and grew up in Lawrenceville, Georgia. He did not grow up in a Christian home, but in high school decided to attend church to be around friends and there realized his need for Christ. After high school, Cameron went to Truett-McConnell College and later transferred to Georgia State.

Ever since college, Cameron knew that God was calling him to ministry. Cameron started attending 1027church while a student at Georgia State, and it was here where he would first be introduced to the idea of church planting. As he and his wife prayed about where God would have them go, God opened up an opportunity for them at First Baptist Church of Chattahoochee. Cameron is now on staff at First Baptist Chattahoochee as an associate pastor with a focus on planting a new church in that community.

Cameron and his wife, Melanie, have a boy named Rhyan.
