Apostles Korean Baptist Church
Apostles Korean Baptist Church seeks to reach Korean college students with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Started by Youngman Shon, Apostles Korean Baptist Church is currently meeting for worship every Sunday at 1:00 p.m. at Midtown Church. In addition to the Sunday service, Apostles Korean has a Bible Study at the Georgia State Baptist Campus Ministry facilities. Youngman is intentionally spending time in popular college hangouts with the purpose of meeting Korean college students.
The vision of Apostles Korean Baptist Church is to have a ministry on the campuses of Georgia State, Georgia Tech, and Emory College. Korean students who are here studying abroad have many needs as they adjust to their new surroundings. Apostles Korean seeks to assist them with some of those needs, while meeting their most important need, which is to hear the gospel of Jesus Christ. We are also planning to establish a congregation in the downtown area, which would be not just for Korean students, but also for their families and other Korean immigrants.
Just as Abraham was faced with much uncertainty when God told him to leave his country, Youngman faces a lot of uncertainty and humbly asks for followers of Christ who would pray for him and his family as they begin this adventure. He asks for prayer specifically for overcoming fear and for wisdom in reaching Koreans in Atlanta.
Apostles Korean Baptist Church hopes that God will bring people to help us grow this ministry and to assist with connecting with the various Korean students and their diverse needs and personalities.

Youngman Shon
Youngman received Christ as a senior in college while in Korea, studying Textile Engineering. In 1995, he came to the United States for his graduate studies. During his graduate studies, Youngman began to sense God impressing on his heart a need to study the Bible and to reach Korean college students with the gospel. Youngman enrolled in New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary where he received a degree in Theology.
Youngman is well aware of the crucial decisions that young people make during those college years and has a passion to reach Korean students during this important time of their lives. He believes that the college years are the best time to reach people for Christ because they will have their whole lives to devote to being followers of Christ, thus, dramatically changing the world around them as they share their faith in the midst of their professional vocations.
Youngman met his wife, Youngwall Shon, while working at Korea Textile Technology Institute in 1986, and has two children, Dong-won Wendy Shon and Dong-riul Don Shon, both of whom are currently in college at the University of Georgia. He is currently applying to be a church planter through the Georgia Baptist Convention.
